Yaginoshima is a Western, Tanba area mine. Known for dense, hard, fine stones especially this type of Asagi. This Asagi boasts a beautiful, deep, dark blue base coloration with holographic Suminagashi like patterns and Goma. This Asagi is extremely dense and fine, perfect for razor finishing. Although hard, they tend to demonstrate smooth sharpening for their hardness and work extremely well with heavier blades like knives and tools. These Asagi also cut at an impressive rate for their hardness. These large Asagi are amazing for razor honing using Mikawa nagura progressions. These Asagi translate feedback extremely well and allow the user a glimpse into the progress of the razors edge while honing. These Yaginoshima Asagi offer the performance and purity of stones which cost 5 times more! Capable of producing light saber edges with ease and extremely versatile. This Asagi is also highly effective when used for knives and tools. Although hard and fine, they demonstrate amazing ease of use characteristics even when used with heavier blades. When used for polishing, they produce an extremely even and consistent Kasumi finish with great refinement vs contrast. Fine enough for tool finishing and well respected in the traditional carpentry world in Japan.
