Vintage Morihei Shohonyama Hon Tomae Kiita Suminagashi. This stunning Kiita is from the famous stone shop Morihei shop in Tokyo. Shohonyama is a general term used by stone sellers to describe either unknown or undisclosed mine. This Kiita was mined from an Eastern Yamashiro Area mine. This piece features a deep, rich, yellow Kiita base with dense, swirling Suminagashi patterns and orange Kan stripes. this Kiita is a notch harder than stone #2043. Although quite hard for Kiita, this stone retains the ease of use characteristics of a softer, easy to use stone with a nuanced, slightly cushioned feel. Still quite hard by all means but pushes the boundary in terms of ease of use enough to allow for heavier blades like knives and tools to be polished with ease and comfort. Extremely inky, fast cutting stone which defies logic in its ability to remove metal and still creates a super refined, detailed finish with ease. Perfect hardness for razors as it releases no self slurry under the weight of the razor and allows for successful Nagura progressions with clear feedback and fast enough for standalone finishing. Perfect for someone looking for a harder Kiita with a more dense, hard and fine feel without sacrificing ease of use. A bit less fast than #0243 yet not by much, mainly due to increased hardness. Creates hyper keen edges with incredible mirror- like polishing capabilities. Heirloom Kiita which includes a Paulownia Box from Morihei.
