Naniwa Chocera Pro whetstones offer fast cutting, consistent feedback, and a full range of sharpening and polishing options for straight razors, knives, and edged tools. Made in Japan, this professional range is offered in eight grits, from 400 for coarse sharpening to 10,000 for ultra-fine finishing.

The dense, magnesia-bonded construction provides a consistent working surface and responsive honing feel. These are splash-and-go waterstones: wet the surface and begin, adding water as needed throughout the session. The unmounted 20 mm stones provide a generous honing surface and can be used with your preferred stone holder.

For straight razors, the 1,000-grit stone is a useful bevel setter, the 3,000 and 5,000-grit stones refine the edge, and the 10,000-grit stone provides a fine finishing option. Knife and tool users can select a finishing grit to suit the edge and task without purchasing every stone in the range.

Formerly sold as Naniwa Professional, this line is also commonly referred to as Chosera. The current packaging uses the name Chocera Pro.

Sold individually. Choose your preferred grit from the variant menu. Group images show the available range; this is not an eight-stone set. Stone holder sold separately.

Choose Your Grit

Grit Suggested use
400 Coarse sharpening and repair of dull or damaged knife and tool edges.
600 Initial sharpening and bevel correction, with a finer scratch pattern than 400 grit.
800 Efficient sharpening of dull edges and preparation for finer stones.
1,000 General sharpening and straight-razor bevel setting.
2,000 Intermediate refinement; a useful finishing option for working knives.
3,000 Fine sharpening and preparation for polishing; a practical knife finishing grit.
5,000 Fine polishing for knives and tools; an intermediate stage in razor honing.
10,000 Ultra-fine finishing for polished knife edges and straight razors.

Use & Care

Wet the surface before honing and keep it wet during use. Do not soak or store submerged, as prolonged water exposure can affect the bond. Rinse after use and allow the stone to air-dry slowly and evenly at room temperature. Avoid direct heat and store only when completely dry. Flatten periodically to maintain a true working surface.

Suggested straight-razor progression: 1,000 → 3,000 → 5,000 → 10,000. This is a starting guide rather than a requirement; choose the starting grit according to the edge’s condition, and strop before shaving.
