Keep your waterstones flat and properly conditioned with Shapton Lapping Powders, designed for use with the Shapton Naoru Cast Iron Lapping System. Used with water, these loose abrasives help remove unevenness and restore the working surface of your sharpening stones.

Available in three grades, the powders allow you to match the resurfacing process to your stone—from coarse sharpening stones to fine finishing hones used for straight razors.

Grade Recommended Stone Grit Application
Coarse (C) 320 grit and below Flattening coarse stones and initial correction of heavily uneven medium-grit stones.
Medium (M) 500–3,000 grit Routine flattening of medium-grit stones and initial correction of heavily uneven fine stones.
Fine (F) 4,000 grit and above Resurfacing finishing stones to leave the refined surface needed for fine honing.

For heavily dished stones, begin with the appropriate coarser powder, then finish with the grade recommended for that stone. Thoroughly rinse both the stone and lapping plate before changing powders to prevent coarse abrasive from carrying over.

Directions: Wet the Naoru plate, sprinkle a small amount of powder across its surface, and work the stone over the plate using forward, backward, and diagonal strokes. Clean and dry the plate after use.
